Default Changing Power Steering Pump.

Im gonna swap out the PS pump on my Classic Impreza with another one I have tomorrow. Before I start, any tips on how to do this??

Gonna drain and remove the Tank, slacken pully belt off, but Im abit unsure as to how the Pump is bolted to the Block, or about the pipework that feeds the Steering rack??

Can I just remove the pipework, and 'block' off the ends to keep the fluid from running out??

Cheers.

If mine is OK when I swap it over Mark, you can try the spare one by all means

I have a feeling its not the pump itself that is making the noise, just the belts/pulleys, but need to change pump to see if it stops.

Mines fine mate.

I was just giving you a 'polite' bump to the top in the hope that you get the info required. to stop you -

A) fookin it up like you do everything else
B) ringing me up and wasting my weekend asking me how to do it.

I use a syringe to draw out the PS fluid before undoing the two bolts that are inside the tank.
Once you've got the tank out the way stick a clean rag down the hole as the fluid over time will come out over the top and sit in all the lovely crevices on top of the engine block...

I swapped them over just fine! It was the fact that the one I replaced it with didn't have the means to fit the sensor that the OE one had!!

So, took the OE pump apart, and it kinda went pear-shaped

The new one is on the car sweetly enough though. Mark!

I presume the sensor was for fluid level?? No light on dash, so all OK
