Default Carbon canister

Can I block off all the pipes and drill a small hole in the petrol cap and all is fine... ? Difficult to find a definitive answer as usual...

I have just teed the two incoming pipes together, then into the return that used to come out the bottom of the cannister and thats it.

Been running fine and dandy for a while now.
