Default Over Revving

Hi,

I hope you can help me.
My UK Turbo (MY99) has started acting very strange.
When I start from cold, auto choke works and revs sit at 1500rpm until warm.
However, if I turn off engine and re-start a few minutes later, the engine revs at between 2000-3000rpm constantly, it only ever drops and rises between these two limits.

Car still appears to drive ok, but when I sit in idle it revs the ar$e out of itself....

Any ideas, have read various threads about MAF, ICV etc.. but was just wondering whether anyone has had this problem before.

Thanks.

Just to add, have taken it to TEG Sport in Carnforth, and the guy there reckons it could be the Throttle Potentiometer.
He tried replacing the ICV with a different one and no change, also swapped the ECU for another one and still nothing.

Has anyone ever needed to change this, how much do they cost?

I had a similar problem with my MY97WRX, I cleaned the throttle position sensor with some electrical contact cleaner to cure the problem. If you do this yourself though be sure to mark the position of the sensor prior to removal, you wont need to get it set up again when you put it back on if you do.
