Lambda again :-(
This lambda sensor is gonna kill me
My knackered lambda sensor contains a black, white and red wire which is quite rare or so i am told. I have just obtained a universal 3 wire one with black and 2 white wires.
Can i wire up the black to the black and the 2 whites to the red and white or would it do damage?
Its costing me a fortune in petrol at the moment with my knackered lambda so if i could wire it up this way it would be a god send.

The two white wires will be for the heater and it usually doesn't matter which one goes to + or -

Cheers for the reply mate
As the voltage is different on the zirconia and titania it shouldnt matter?
I think the zirconia is 0.1-0.9v and the titania is 0-1v, but if i wire the 2 whites to the red and white wires I cant see why it wont work.

No, I don't think thats right.
JamesWRX is right in his second post, black is the signal on the universal, but on your car you need to wire up the white from your car to the black on the sensor. The red and black wires are the power for the heater.
You should use the 0-0.9v sensor for scoobs, which are easy to obtain. I don't know if it would make a big difference to use 0-1v sensors - you need to check if there is a different voltage output for stoich conditions.
I will be back in a second after looking at my car to confirm what I just said about the wires.....

Ive fit the lambda and the car seems to run better now, no hesitation at low revs.
I reset the ecu and did the diagnostic check and it still comes up with error 32-lambda sensor. Could it be that the error will always be in the ecu now even with the reset or should the error have gone?

All i did was rest the ecu by connecting the green and black plugs together and driving until the CEL flashes. Is there another way of clearing the faults from the ECU?
Also when the ecu was reset and starts to flash it was a constant flash which means theres no faults isnt it?
But then when you just have the blacks plugs together it comes up with error 32
