Weird sounds like its some sort of demister, though if its next to the ic spray switch.....
Does your car have an auto I/C spray switch and/or a manual one?

I will give it a try with me head under the bonnet, only tried so far whilst sat in the car,but cause it only works whilst the heater blowers on you can only hear the heater.

i took a feed off one off the spare plugs behind that panel for my afr gauge...never noticed at the time, but its only live when the heater motor is on,so i guess it could be the plug for that AP switch that you have... be interested myself to find out what its for,as i racked my brains trying to think why a switch would only be live when the heater is on??? cars a jap spec 00 wrx with a/c by the way
