Has anyone ever installed one? I have wired the spark plug at the end of my tailpipe and connected it with th HT lead to the coil and directly onto the battery with a switch inbetween. The spark inside the tailpipe seems to be too small and there are no flames. Does anybody know exactly what I am doing wrong.

You have got a module to pulse the coil I take it?

 

I have got a full decat afterburner and a bailey. What do you mean with the module? I have a switch connected to control the flame if that is it.

 

There should be some type of electronic box that pulses the coil.

 

Otherwise you will have to flick the switch on and off like crazy to create a constant spark.

 

I do have the module which has some wires sticking out of it, the reason why I decided not to use it is because it also needs to be wired to the cars ignition coil.

If you don't use everything in the kit, how do you expect it to work? That module box isn't empty you know

Steer well clear of flamers that has to be connected to the engine in anyway!! that's asking for trouble as engines don't like them.

I make flamers, and mine has it's own control circuit to pulse a seperate coil

I bought this new computer, its got a really thin screen but there is this stupid bulky box that came with it so I threw that in the bin, damn thing doesnt seem to work though.. Any ideas?

I have recently pulled up a thread on sn which gives instructions on how to get the flamer kit done and it did not include the module at all. As I had trouble wiring the module up to the cars ignition coil, I decided to give it a go without it just like the instructions in the tread.

 

if you wire a ignition coil straight to a power source it will do NOTHING until you disconnect it from the source, then it will spark ONCE.

 

Ok that is the way of not doing it I presume, does anyone know how it can be done then. If using the control module, I have to connect two wires to the vehicles ignition coil which I can't seem to figure out.

 

THERE IS NO IGNITION COIL! Your impreza will either have coil packs or a dispack..

You simply get a coil from a ford anglia or something equally as cheap, wire up the module to the input on the coil and then run a HT lead to a plug in the exhaust.

 

I have already got a seperate coil wired up to the module and to the s.plug with the HT lead, the instructions for the module however say that I have to connect 2 wires to the cars ignition feed to get the constant spark I presume.

 

Not true,If its the kit im thinking of(red dragon or someting like that) then there is away to wire it without using the cars coil packs.Cant remember how.Can you put up a pic of the wiring diagram and i'll tell you how to do it.All the wiring to the cars coil does is cut the spark from the car which you dont want to do.The module supplied will pulse the coil for the flamer

From the diagram given run a live from car ignition through a switch to coil live,also connect this wire to module labelled vechicle ignition and green on module.Do not use the red wire.The ground wire stays as ground and the other wire goes to coil negative and remove what is called control button on the diagram.If its supplied with a push button switch then thats no good you need a proper toggle switch for the live supplies.

The first wire (cars ignition) is suppose to be connected to some ignition wire near the steering wheel.

I cannot seem to find the car's ignition as the vehicle has no ignition coil

 

The cars ignition is simply the ACC ON feed (i.e. The power that is on when the key is in the ON position).. If you remove the shroud from behind the steering wheel there are 4 wires comming from the barrel, they go down to a connector under the dash, IIRC correctly its the blue/back wire you want.. Check with a test meter first though!

 

I have just contacted the company (eatmyflames) about the installation and was asked the following:

"can you send me a diagram of the eic system for your auto so I can help?"

does anyone have a clue about the eic system of a 93 turbo impreza ?
