Default Help very nasty noise from the back of the gearbox and no drive.

Driving to GRD to get a H&S mid section fitted and had what appears to be driveshaft, cv joint, diff ? failure.
Managed to limp off the motorway and was 3 miles from GRD before i lost all forward motion.
Thankfully if you hold the clutch down the engines runs fine, gears can be engaged just about, but when you raise the clutch it sounds like all hell is breaking loose.
Transmission oil is leaking and all over the back of the car.
RAC excelled themselves in turning up in 30 mins with a low loader and had me home in the same.
The recovery driver reckons its a cv joint?
Also food for thought a mechanic changed this on my car recently could it be linked and also had probs with the thrust plate?

All this just after the bottom end failure and fun and games with garage's.
On a plus note one ford driver stopped and helped me push the car off the road and a scooby waggon stopped and offered a lift, so thanks chaps for that.
Time for a Stella methinks.
A very pssed off
Chris

Advice guys please.

Thats the clutch release bearing, could it have popped out of the pressure plate on the clutch, is the clutch pedal really light?

Dan.
