Default psi, boost. HELP

Hi Guys.
I'm Emmigrating in 2 weeks to New Zealand and have seen an impreza turbo (bug eye 2000) which i think i'm going to buy. The only thing that concerns me is that The owner say's it has a boost controller. He said he has been running it between 11 and 13 but it can be turned up to 15. Help, does he mean psi or bar, and how safe is it being ran at this.

Sorry guys but i'm not to clued up with all this. Please help

Thanks.
Ben

Hi Ben,

If that was BAR..... then I think NASA would be interested in that engine!

15psi is a little over 1bar.

As regards to whether it is safe, it all depends on how it is setup.

I figure this wont help you much.

Regards,
Shaun.

He has told me it has been ran at standard boost (11-13 psi) and if it was ever took to 15 it would automatically cut your revs.
Could this have done any damage to the engine or is it fairly safe ?????????

I presume he is referring to boost cut.

To be perfectly frank, it is very hard to say what is safe without knowing exactly how your car is setup.

I would suggest visiting someone who has the equipment to check everything is as it should be (try contacting one of the many specialists that advertise on this site).

Regards,
Shaun.
