I've heard that an uprated pump can quite easily overpower a standard regulator, so it would be adviseable to get one at the same time.......one of the experts will probably be able to give you a definate answer.

I would have thought it would depend on the power u running as the newage ones seem o.k up to a certain point, also I would have thought u could max out the injectors too..

Id highly recommend getting an uprated fuel pressure reg when fitting the walboro.
I fitted just the pump on my type r using the OE reg and it overpowered the reg so bad that the car ran like a bag of the preverbial until it was remapped. As said if its a newage car these seem to cope better than the classics but then every car is different you might fit it as some other people have and have no probs at all.I can only speak from my personal experience

good luck

It's a pity that search is down as Bob Rawle has commented before on the Bugeye OE Fuel Pressure Reg. IIRC it's one of subaru's better efforts and doesn't need changing.

I Fitted one to my classic and then performed a pressure check afterwards. The reading was 1 p.s.i over spec which I believe is minimal and offset by the high flow green filter a have fitted too.

I've fitted a Walbro 255 fuel pump to my MY01 bugeye WRX and not bothered with a regulator. No adverse reactions apart from an increase in fuel consumption, (and that's probably more down to the ecutek remap and a heavier right foot!).

Just about to do this to my MY03 WRX. It has the same PR as the bug eye and have been told by Andy F there's no need to change it for the 350 bhp upgrades I'm doing.

You can also put the OE fuel filter on the new pump (little white bag), it's easier than changing to the new one as the fitment on top is slightly different (IIRC).
