Default Big ends worn

I've found an old classic thats got worn big end bearings by the sound of it. Can these be changed in situ without removing the engine block. If so how hard is is. Anyone done this before?

Cheers for any help!

They can't be changed in situ, it's an engine out job. If a big end has actually failed (rattley engine) chances are it will have done the crank, and at least one rod.

It's not really a job for a novice.

Not a problem, just thought I might be able to save a bit on an engine lift ;-)
