Lack of power after a corner

Lack of power after a corner
I have got a MY03 WRX. Having had Mini's (the proper kind ) before I like roundabouts.... When I first got the Impreza I noticed that if I had low fuel (say 1/4 of a tank) then after hard cornering (i.e. sliding) by the time I hit the straight the car would stop accelerating suddenly for about a second (it feels like someone has hit the brakes as you go from full accel to nothing). I am on full power so it is not that I am just stepping on the throttle. It is also not hitting the rev limit as I am only at about 5000rpm.
I assumed it was just a low fuel issue (is that reasonable??) but this week it did it when I had just under half a tank.
Has anyone else had this problem or knows what it could be? Could it be air getting into the fuel pipe when the fuel is getting chucked left and right? I never have a problem with accelerating on straights with low fuel. I have never done a track day but I guess if anyone has they will have come accross this with low fuel if it is a common issue.
The car is still under warranty for a few months so I need to get it fixed really. Trouble is it is a bit busy on the road in the day to demonstrate!
Any advice appreciated.

Probably is the fuel situation. The fuel pick up is on the offside of the tank.I Have heard of a fuel pick up problem with quarter of a tank or less,It possible that it can happen with half if your really givin it some i guess

Fuel starvation.
I track my RA and need to keep the tank above 1/4. Will be getting a foam filled tank this season to combat the problem.... I wonder if you can get 98 octane foam

Yeah, 'common' problem; I take 1/4 full as the 'empty' point on my tank now.
Oh, and pslewis thinks this happening is as likely as the tooth fairy being real, so it would appear that if you drive and get 35mpg (and 60000 mile life out of brake pads) then you won't experience this.

This will happen on newage models up to about 1/2 tank of fuel if you are driving hard around a large roundabout.
I have had it a couple of times in the past 3 years on an MY02STI.

If you hold it in second for a bit and then floor it, the car does not seem to fully boost. I understand that this is to do with noise emissions - apparently all scoobies do this!!! This could be your problem????

Fuel Starvation. Aparently the tank is "saddle-bag" shaped with what could be described as a cup in the middle (elevated) where the pick up is. This is obviously kept full by fuel sloshing about over the top of it. It can be fixed by installing a cheap lift-pump to pick up from the lower corner of the tank and deposit fuel into the pickup cup. My tuned classic does it below a third tank, niticable on entering corners after a long straight jab....

Yep, my hill climber does it too on anything less than 1/3 tank.
Fitting a swirl pot will do it and there are other fixes from www.mrtrally.com.au too.
Graham.
