Question HKS Downpipe..help please.

Can someone help me out please....I've just bought a HKS Downpipe and it does'nt look right to me
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...Downpipe-1.jpg

Spoke to the supplier that my mate got it off and they say it's the right one for my Subaru. MY94 WRX import. Virtually everyone I've spoken to has told/advised me to get a open neck-but the HKS does'nt look the same. I went for the HKS thinking best go for quality. Has anyone got a HKS Downpipe like mine on their's, or is this for a Sport ? ?
Help please...anyone .

Cheers Paul.

It's the fact it's not open neck that's bothering me . I've looked at loads of downpipes on the internet ( H&S, Scoobyclinic etc ) and they all seem to be open neck.
Like I said, I went for HKS for the quality ( ) so have they designed the downpipe this way as they feel it gives the best results ? Please somebody help me.....

Cheers Paul.

I am sure it will be good. like you said it's HKS. the only thing i can think of is that the open neck will allow gases to flow easier... I am just looking and i will get an open neck.

Hopefully some more tech minded guys will be on later.

i have a 3" hks downpipe and it looks identical to yours, I had someone drill a hole and weld a nut on the side for the lambda sensor on mine.

also, if you have a standard centre section you'll have a bit of a nightmare mating 3" to 2".

yep, looks exactly the same as my old HKS 3" DP, Not open neck but no cat, VERY LOUD and NOT the best quality in the world would you believe, it is made of mild steel and not stainless steel or alu so it has all the weaknesses of a standard DP.

You should buy a nur spec R to go on to this it's the best sound combo in the world and a doddle to fit

Have a look at this:

This is what i got. i bought my second hand from ebay.

Jap-Innovations Stainless Steel Downpipe (Open Neck)

Constructed in high quality stainless steel, this replacement downpipe replaces the catted OEM downpipe, improving exhaust gas flow and releasing more power. The downpipe has no catalytic converter and may prevent a vehicle from passing the emissions test for an MOT. If coupled with a midsection and back box it will also increase the noise from the standard system giving a pleasing, raspy note on full throttle and a nice burble at low rpm. Increased noise from the turbo will also result, giving a louder whoosh as the turbo spins up.
