Default Evo and Scooby power bands

I don't have the plots from the same dynos, but taking my old 2.5 with 20G, FMIC, headers, water injection setup and comparing it with a 2.0 Evo IX on stock turbo with 3.5" exhaust, induction, fuel pump, remap (and this tuner added a bigger FMIC), the results are interesting. Scooby is on Dastek dyno, Evo is on Dyno Dynamics, both are flywheel figures. There are issues with the Mag compressor wheel on the Evo exploding, but the 8 MR is not far behind and I think they show what an engine with a short manifold and twin scroll turbo with short intercooler pipework, long stroke and decent compression will do even when nearly half a litre down on displacement.

42lb/min compressor wheel is standard Andy Apparently a little bigger than a big 16G, looks almost equiv to a 20G on a Scooby when you consider the bigger hot side?

Just go down and buy a 2.5Sti from Iain, run it in on the way up, leave it here for a week with a few £k and if it can't whip the *** off an EVO9 by the time you collect it then I'll buy it off you !

that is what I am starting to think too andy.

a UK2.5sti with those nice ratios. I am sure it will be a better road car than the evo and even a spec-c once they are all around 400bhp. with proper 2.5heads it might even hold onto it's gaskets.

EVO has twin scroll AND variable valve timing to it's advantage over John's old setup. I think we will see the balance redressed soon enough.

I think Paul is meaning that with AVCS the 2.5 Scooby would close the gap again. The "winner" does depend on what dyno results I choose to plot, I have a selection of high and low flywheel and wheel figures, various configurations, and they're from different dynos. I think they seem close either way anyway.

As John says Andy. Put twin scroll AVCS EJ engine into the equation and I think the gap will be all but gone. I will be interested to see how your twin scroll turbo works!

It would be nice if the avcs did make a decent difference but my experience on the 2.0 is that the MY03 onwards wrx with 'static' cams running on the same turbo, can match the sti for botton/mid and top end !

evonorth - the car has changed 'a bit' since then, should be out and about on track in April again.

Andy

lol, who told you about the "classified" twin scroll plan ? I need to keep my info closer

Andy, dont suppose you have data on Alan's car, that you could compare to Johns above?

If Delta Dash Road dyno results are available for Alan's car I can supply the DDF file so they can be plotted together by Delta Dash, and we can see if the AVCS helps the 06H turbine get near to the 05H for spool up. Got to be a little careful multiplying up Road Dyno wheel figures by a multiplier across the range to estimate BHP as it overestimates the torque especially low down. I've found that the Dyno Dynamics flywheel plot above actually had a 1.25 multiplier across the board, but my Dastek figures were only 1.13 at peak, and a lot less low down. These differences seem enough to screw your comparisons, very annoying. If I plot the wheel figures off Dyno Dynamics for the best IX GT wheel HP plot shown on MLR, the Evo vs Scooby curve looks far more in favour of the Scooby...

I don't have any roaddyno data from Alans car Steven. How does the Dyno dynamics paw compare from before the upgrade remap ? Do you still have that.

John, I use a cunning blend of revised CD, Area and weight to achieve realistic paf figures from roaddyno. This only works in the 30-100mph range but seems quite close to a dyno run (well as close as dyno runs are to each other )
