Smile How much work to change Bottom End

I keep reading how cheaply you can pick a 2.5 bottom end up for, i was just wondering how much work (labour wise) it is for swopping it all over.

Car is 02WRX

Some more questions to

Will the heads off my 02WRX be man enough for it?
What else needs changing to support it?
Is gearbox up to the job?
Is a TD05 16g enough or would it need to be bigger

Now, (if i did) A 2.5 running with a TD05 16g, ported headers, full decat, STI8 intercooler, with a really good map. What could i hope for in power terms?

Last one Would my standard WRX bottom end be worth anything to speak of, once removed?

I look forward to the replies here

Full engines out job and all the bits swapped over to new block. I will let you know how much once my car is finished, suffice to say it isnt the cheapest job, but hopefully well worth it

Are you doing the job yourself then?

It all adds up

water pump
oil pump
cambelt
tensioner
exhaust gaskets
inlet manifold gaskets
water pipe gaskets
rocker cover gaskets
PFR7B plugs
oil
filter
sump Oring
turbo
more oil and filter after run in
remap
and anything else I've forgotton (probably)

erm clutch
new gearbox perhaps!

on a 16g you could get 330 of each

Rough guess

£500 parts
£500 labour
plus turbo
plus remap
and insurance
perhaps clutch
perhaps gearbox

assuming you have all neccessary gauges/monitoring devices for a 50% power hike

02 wrx has 380 injectors, so you'll need to change them, with the obligatory fuel pump upgrade!

That is a lot less than i would have expected, is that a rough guess for the whole job to be carried out?

I suppose new brakes would have to budgetted for as well

Labour might be optimistic, but it really isn't that much more than a head gasket change - get some quotes. Parts about right
