I currently have an 02 STI with PPP, I am fitting a full Jap Innovations decat exhaust and I have an STI panel filter. I have been advised to remap the car as the decat may cause boost spikes or det. As the remap is pretty costly and the car already has PPP I would like to carry out a few more mods to get the most from the mapping session. Any ideas what other mods I could do without spending a fortune ?

Front mount intercooler, turbo, headers/up pipe............

There's little more you can do, unless you want to go for a lot more power, and start spending a lot more money.
