tyre widths
Hi all
I have just bought some new 17" alloys for my2000 uk turbo, the car had 18" wheels fitted with 215/35 tyres on when i got it, but i live in sunny cumbria where i drive on a lot of rough B roads and found the ride to harsh and the car dose alot of tramlining, so i thought the 17" 205/40 would be a better package, but the place where i am getting them from will not fit the 205 tyres on they will only fit 215's, he said you can not put 205's on an impreza because it will change the radius and mess up the gearbox.
now unless i have missed something i would of said this would be fine, is he right? or is he just talking S##T?

205/45/17 are recommended but most people opt for the more commonly available 215/40/17.
You can even fit 215/45/17 but may get some slight speedo discrepancy.
