Unhappy Piston slap

Can you help been to API in southam they told me i have piston slap being xmas and all that i cant afford for it to be fixed yet.
Does anyone recomend a thicker oil for now just so i can get in to the new uear before i hammer my bank account.
The noise is very slight at about 3000 rpm upwards the only thing is still does it when its warm.
Im using millers 10/60 racing oil at the moment. The car is only slightly modified.
WHAT SHALL I DO?

keep driving and enjoying the car, as long as you dont cane the living hell out of it, its good for many many miles still.
Turn the boost down a bit
Thicker oil I dont think will help piston slap
Many scoobies have piston slap for many kilometres without going bang (however some dont last around the block)
Save up, GGR has EJ25 short blocks for 1250 GBP, add labour, gaskets and some head fettling and your done

Apart from being irritating, piston slap really isn't a problem.

My Forresters got 92k on the clock, it's been slappy for over the last 32k, but it still goes fine.

Mark.

If it's still audible when the engine is at temperature then, in my opinion, it should eventually be investigated. I reckon the oil you're using is too thick anyway so don't go looking for anything thicker! Drive conservatively and get it done when you can.

my mate has just bought a MY97 Catalunya - 1 owner done just over 120k and that car has had piston slap from about 9k on.. and touchwood no probs as of yet.. quite loud when car is cold but when warm quitens down however when you blip the throttle you can just hear it for a split second..

Told him to get a full decat and you probably wont hear it at all.. (currently standard system)
Wouldn't worry about it - you can get it done later rather than sooner i have been told.. shouldn't get any worse...

This is probably a stupid question, but what does it sound like and what causes it?
