Default WATER DRIPPING FROM EXHAUST

Hello chaps, i have just noticied on out 93 wrx that we seem to have quite a large amount of water coming from the exhaust. The car is completley standard and seems to be running fine, no overheating problems, no smoke at all...any ideas please?

Condensation.........especially this time of year, when there's a lot of moisture in the air.

Look anywhere where you'd expect to find oil or water (i.e. coolant tank or oil filler cap). If a head gasket has gone then you'll have an oil/water mix - mayonnaise.

True in most cases Nick, but a good one is to see if your loosing water from pressurisation in the cooling system, it doesnt always go via oil/water channel.

What is it with people thinking water/white smoke/steam from exhaust instantly makes it a head gasket???

Petrol is a chain of Hydrocarbons - that is Hydrogen and Carbon (and other stuff I'm too drunk to go into ). It burns in oxygen.

As a by product you will get some Hydrogen and Oxygen combining to produce H2O...WATER!!!!

Exhaust is hot, so water escapes as steam.

Lesson over...I thank you

Also heavy dense whitish smoke can be unburnt fuel (accompanied by a stench of petrol/fumes) ....running rich doesn't always gove black smoke ...buts I'll keep that one for another day
