Classic Temp reading?
I just wanted to know what triggers the standard temp sensor? is it the water system? I have no clue on this. Any help would be appreciated.
Its just that i am going to buy some gauges. only really want 2. Boost is one. but not sure on the other.
Cheers

Water temp, but the centre part is flattened in response to always read normal. It does start rising if things are really getting too hot.
Oil temp is nice to know when the engine is warm to thrash, or if you are overheating it on very hard driving/lots of mods/hot weather/track.

Graham, oil temp usually goes in the number 3 oil gallery. Depending on your gauge's fitting you might need an adaptor, do a search.
Oil pressure might tell you early that you've lost a big end bearing, have a massive oil leak, oil pump problems etc. All quite terminal stuff.
If you had an aftermarket fuel pressure reg, fuel pressure is useful.
I'd have boost, oil temp and knocklink on a modified car, and have the car setup with a wideband lambda.
