Can I disconnect my BOV????????
Can I disconnect my BOV????????
Im fed up with the noise so I bought a recirc kit but this seems to much grief to fit as I need a new length of hose with several bends. Can I just disconnect the valve altogether. Please see photo below.
Do I just need to connect the hose thats on the gold pipe(this leads to the BOV) back on to the one with the bung in it next to it, which comes of the Air Filter Hose.
My car is currently running 285 bhp and is a MY95 Import with the TD05 Turbo. Will this damage my turbo if I disconnect it.

NOT!! a good idea as the BOV prevents the turbo stalling when you close the throttle. To get an idea of what your turbo would feel get a piece of hose and blow down it hard and whilst blowing kink the hose to close the pipe QUICKLY the do it again but not closing the pipe fully. This would be similar to closing the throttle with no BOV then doing it with a BOV. Turbos £1000+ choice is yours.

Cheers for the reply mate. I know what the BOV does and how it works. It was just a question really as Ive seen threads on here that say you dont need a bov unless you are running very high bhp. I will just have to connect the recirculation kit up.

Cheers Mate . I thought I had seen posts on here before saying that the bov is only needed with massive bhp. It will save me alot of grief if I just disconnect it. As you can see in the picture just take the hose off the gold bov pipe and join it straight back on to the one from the induction hose right next to it.
Ive heard you get a nice chatter sound as well with no bov....

Plenty of people on here with FMIC's who don't use one.
