Default What filters do the big boys use?? AndyF, Pavlo?

Im interested to know what sort of filters the Pavlo, AndyF etc are using? I realise that they will still be one fairly large step up from my prospective engines power but im having trouble finding a filter that will supply enough air for ~500bhp.....

any clues?

IIRC these filters we use are rated to 620bhp, which at the start of last year seemed plenty...................not so sure now though as the 680bhp rated injectors can't cope any more

IIRC, K&N say the rated flows they gave are for N/A, for turbo, multiply by 1.7.

TBH, I don't know what they are rated to, but seem ok for 9.8 1/4's

Andy,

are you saying the 680bhp injectors are struggling on regular running without NOS? (assume since the NOS injects its own fuel that it can be taken out of the equation).

Plus, on another note, how many miles has the most recent incarnation of your engine done? not sure when it was last opened up.

Never mind the filter, it would help if you went in the right direction

The 850cc injectors are at 100% IDC from 6500 rpm upwards, thats at 4.5 bar differential fuel pressure on twin pumps.

After seeing the major failures that others were having, the engine was opened to replace the standard (over 100,000mile) sti valves just pre this years totb.
At that time we put in a set of pistons and bearings as a preventative measure. The original CP pistons appear and measure up as new !! They will be going in my spare engine I'm building.

As for miles ? no idea Round trip to Bruntingthorpe, York and Crail a few times. Half a dozen 9 second runs, a few hundred 10 second runs, half a dozen runs at 190+ mph and 3 runs at 200+ mph.

Additional street miles are almost insignificant, no reason it wouldn't run 100k miles at a street type duty.
