Default Zerosports induction chrome pipe fit a standard airbox on ...

.. a MY01 WRX?

Was wondering if the 2 parts fit together. Standard air box and nice shiny Zerosports pipe (same as the group buy one recently)

Thanks

My only experience of this piece of shiny bling was on an STi I'd mapped previously - fitting this pipe upset the MAF signal........causing ECU to drop into safe mode due to det. Is it intended for WRX and STi use? If yes, I'd be careful.

I didn't investigate the issue in my instance, just junked it for a stock part which fixed the problem. It may also have been poor fitment (there's a lot of joints in this [IMHO] pile of junk ).

I had det when the intake pipe came off where it bolts with the turbo inlet hose. so maybe you didnt install it properly?

He-he - I didn't install it at all. I uninstalled it....to fix the problem As mentioned though, may have been poor fitment (why use 2 joints when you can use 4 ). It's the only one I ever saw on a Swiss scoob.

We have sold & fitted over 50 of these pipes in the last 18 months & have had no reported problems. The pipe fits after the air flow meter so it's hard to believe it would have any negative effect on the air flow meter.

All ZERO/SPORTS products are made only for Subaru & a great deal of development work is carried out in Japan to ensure that no problems arise when fitting the products.

Andy

No I say that from experience & having direct contact with ZERO/SPORTS Japan (who know more than most about tuning Subaru). Also don't like the unproven suggestion against a good product but understand people have their own opinions.

Quite happy to put my money where my mouth is so if any one finds a problem caused by this item when supplied by us I am prepared to give a full refund on return within a reasonable time period.

I qualified all my comments with the fact it was the only one I'd seen - I even posted on here (or 22B - as Richard.D) a year or so back asking whether anyone else had any experience with them. I can only assume, in the particular instance I worked on, that it was causing a restriction. This could well have been poor fit - but I couldn't be arsed to try correcting it, so refitted a stock item that cured the problem.

I don't like it for the fact that it replaces two joints with four. In such a short length it could easily lead to fitment issues causing a restriction......IMHO

I doubt that Zero Sports would release a product that made your engine det intentionally, but that is my only (single time!) experience of this piece of kit.

No, If you engine blows up it wont be due to fitting the air intake pipe.

The only thing wrong with the pipe is that its a bit too rigidly mounted, that apart it has NO effect on maf output at all, I've mapped several cars with this fitted with no detrimental effect in that area, I have one car in particular whose owner has majored on Zero Sports kit for virtually every mod and it all works VERY well indeed. I've even remapped a Leggy B4 with one.

Richard there must have been a bad air leak in the install to do what you found I think.

cheers
