Default TD04 to TD05 swap

I have a 1995 WRX Wagon with a TD04 and I am thinking about swapping it out for a TD05, is it a reasonably straight swap in terms of turbo? Are all the oil pipes the same fittings/size etc?
thanks

I'm a little confused in your wording. Do you have all the water pipes for the TD05? If so, there is little issues with it but if not you'll have trouble as the banjo bolts for the cooling hoses on the TDo5 are LARGER than the ones for the TD04 - WON't FIT!

Otherwise it is a straight swop. Oil pipes will be fine.

Yes you would need to buy a turbo with water pipes and banjo bolts included - most people leave these attached when selling so you should be ok but make sure.

The only other thing you will need to do is change the ECU to match the turbo. You can get a z4 ecu second hand for around 150 squids and that should work ok (I know of at least one owner that runs his wagon with this combo with no problem but I had detting issues with the z4 on my wagon with the z4 for some reason).

Better than the z4 would be to ge a scoobyecu chip mapped specifically for your car and its new turbo (around 350-500 quid).

Best option would be to get the Apexi Power FC mapped by Andy F for around 750 quids I think.

Whatever you do, dont run the turbo on the standard ecu.

Thanks for the info guys.
I have no TD05 turbo or pipes at the moment so I will make sure I get one with water pipes.
I already have a 7D ECU out of a UK1995 WRX (TD05) that I am going to run and I will hopefully also be getting a ScoobyECU type chip for it as well.
An apexi setup would be great but I cannot stretch that far unfortunately.

Z4 ecu should give you 40 more BHP bu at least the 7D should be much safer on uk fuel.
If you are going to get a scoobyecu anyway it doesn't make any difference though.

Where are you going to get the TD05 from?
