Apexi Power FC adjusting
I need to adjust my power fc, as my car sint cooling down enough and when in traffic or when idling is around 91-94 degrees, when on road usually 90, 91 or 92 degrees.
I was told there is a setting on the power fc, can anyone tell me how to alter this?
I have a 1995 WRX and obviously am using the 1992-1996 apexi power fc

I didn't think you could adjust the fan temp on the PFC.
If it's running at those temps during normal driving then I suspect there is a coolant problem. Thermostat or airlock most probably.

there is no way of altering the fan setting on the pfc, not with the commander or with datalogit.. never had the need to either tbh.
Are you sure the coolant fan is working and the fuse is not blown?
Also that you have enough coolant in the car and no air lock?
Has the temp just changed or not checked before?
Temp usually around 84~89degree whilst driving with 92 the highest on idle in traffic..
occasionally see peak of 97degrees but that is usually after switching off to get fuel for example and then restarting and it reads 97degrees until water flowed around the system..
All that said your temp is not hugely higher and as long as it is maintained it could just be your sensor reads slightly higher.. but I would check the coolant system.

Plenty of coolant in it, seams coincidental after i put the apexi in.
Fans come on and go off sometimes if cools ok, but 95 percent of the time it doesnt.
Tried starting the car and warm up with rad cap of but to no avail, any ideas?

Im 99% certain that there is a setting at which point the fans kick in & turn off. This point being a degree of Temp & that this feature is Ecu controlled & not by a thermal type switch used on most cars.
Unfortunately i cannot look as im nowhere near my Car !!!
This could just be coincidental with the fitting of the Apexi & something else is at fault, But certainly worth a look.

You should know, especially if you map these. Im sure when Andy went through it with me there were two temp settings & my line of thought was that if Scoobboys fans are kicking in & staying on (assuming all else is correct with the coolant system !!) that the Fan cut in could be set to high & the cut off to Low, so therefor staying on as the fan could not get the temp down far enough !!!
Anyhow probably talking out of My @rse

you cannot alter the cut in or cut out point of the fan on the apexi.
on gems you can alter the cut in temp of both fans but cut off is not selectable..
same on link. usually about 2degrees less than cut in temp from memory.
I think the PFC is 92degrees for fan and off at 90degree but not had to study it closely. My car cylces between 92 and 89 degrees in traffic.

If there is no bleed screw on the rad and i have started the car from cold while pumping the rad hose with the rad cap off until the car is fully warmed up with no joy, how do i get the air out of the system?

You might have all the air out the system, in which case you may want to look at things like the thermostat not working correctly. I would say the temperatures you mentioned in the first post are not very high. Are you comparing these to temperature you got on a different gauge before the powerFC being fitted? My PowerFC used to read about 6deg higher than my SPA gauge.

While it is out though you might as well replace it to be on the safe side.
No idea how much they are for a subaru but should think under £20.
Or get one of these...

Expensive for what it is, but still probably worth it, if you know what I mean.

If it's any help, the PFC switches the fan on at 91C and off at 90C on a EJ207.
Don't have info on any others.
But, I would say that 90+ degrees during normal driving is a bit high. I normally see 87 max.
I stand to be corrected though

May be worth checking that the radiator fins aren't blocked or obstructed.
Presumably the PFC has been mapped?
Any air bubbles in the water when the rad cap's off? Could it be a head gasket starting to let go?
