How do i open the boot...
.. when the catch in the drivers footwell doesn't work?
I pull on it and nothing happens? It worked this morning when i put the new spare in, but since then nothing... pull the lever and no 'clunk' noise.
There is a key on the boot.. but it doesn't turn.
I tried to see if the rear seats come down, but i couldn't get them to?
Anyhelp/idea's? I new to the ownership of scoobies... and don't want to drive if i know i can't get to the spare wheel just incase.
Regards

If the lever in the footwell doesn't work, and neither does the key, and the seats don't fold, you need to remove the rear seats and get into the boot that way, you can get the lid open from inside...and when you get the lid open, there's a little toggle on the catch that you can flick, which should then mean that the lever inside should work.....
I'm surprised that the boot key doesn't work though...??
Anyways, happy climbing......

depending on what year it is, there should be two bolts holding the seat bit down, they are below the front of the seat, then the rear has three bolts holding it in..... and then that can be lifted off, none of the bolts need to be got at from the boot....

There is a small lever on the latch fitted to the bootlid, I suspect you have accidentally flicked the position of it preventing the boot release lever from working. once you get the boot open you should check the latch out. You can remove the rear seats quite easily from an import saloon, and they should fold down on the uK saloon and all wagons.

It's a 96 Import... will take it to my mates garage tomorrow and get climbing.
Just another question while i have your attention.. my import hasn't get any service history.. and the speedo (having been converted to Mph) doesn't work.. just flashes and the needle bounces.
The previous owner was s subaru breaker and even though he kept the car in great knick... shall i just get it serviced and change the cambelt?

If you don't know the history, change the cambelt first thing..... i bought an old rover recently, i was gonna change the belt as a precaution, but it snapped after three days of ownership..... and destroyed the engine...... so, get the belt changed asap.....

Shall i just take it to a normal garage, or should i use a scooby specialist?
Subaru central in Willenhall, Wolverhampton are doing a ful service and belt change for £400 all in... in my eyes that sounds good considering my Audi S3 belt change cost £450 on it's own!
