Hia i had this problem on a my01 Subaru wrx,, I thought the syncros where knackered... So i changed my gearbox oil and same problem... So my mate came round and said that the gearbox oil velocity or something like that does matter... So off we went to subaru.. They filled us up a container with gearbox oil. And we put that into the box ... And hey presto noise had gone.. So the moral of the story is .. Get some gearbox oil from your dealership or find out what oil it is they use and replace it... Cheaper option first... The problems where with my gears 3 and 4 too
