Hybrid FMIC/induction kit
What induction kit are you guys running with your hybrid? just fitted the FMIC and my old induction kit (RCM one with the big K&N cone) wont fit anymore. The hard pipe wont let the filter sit down low enough without fouling the bonnet!

yes,
57i kit. i didn't really want to use a cone, due to potential maf issues, but with a front mount you don't have any choice !
make sure it is secured properly, and that the cone doesn't vibrate on anything.
also try and get as much cold air to it .
i've got a home made ali didvder to try and separate the cone from the hot engine, also some ducting from the front bumper to the cone, and a mini-scoop on the bonnet above the cone !

Have 57i kit also and it sits just as in IPalmer's pic.
BTW IPalmer, if that's the outside air temp sensor you have pushed into the rubber section after the MAF. I had the same on mine but when I sectioned off the cone, as you say you're going to do with ali sheet, I found that it sees some very high temps when stationary due to heat soak.
I tied it to the outside of the cone for more actual air temps. It made a big difference being on the cold side of the sheet. I plugged the hole in the rubber section with an M8 bolt and nut with a large washer on both sides, bit of silicone on the washers and lock tite on the thread. Thought you may find it useful.

cheers guys, i have only just put the FMIC on. have a cold air feed from the bumper already, and an airbox on the way. also i think its gona be worthwile wrapping the hot pipe where it is underneath the filter, and also putting a insulation blanket under there.
this is what i had to do to fit the cone to get me up and running. the inlet pipe is shortened so much that i had to put the maf socket up in the air above the header tank . not good so want a cone that will let me position it more conventionally.

cheapest place for a 57i? i know they are avaliable all over the place but who does the best deal?

Also have a mini scoop on driver's side and once on the move it cools very rapidly to a couple of degrees over ambient or even less. Takes longer for it to see temp increases there too if you need to stop. It normally sits in the OE scoop just inside the bonnet lip before the resonator so it should be positioned for ambient air temp. IMO
Hope that makes sense.

This is the one i ordered and im worried now that it wont fit with the intercooler pipe. Think its bigger than the K+N one's. Anyone else have or know about this one. 99-00.
Cheers

Don't bother trying the Blitz SUS because i had the same problem as you. Fitted an induction scoop in placeof the orginal grill, problem solved.
