Default I cant connect link ecu W/ my laptop

Hi, Ive gotta a problem trying to conect my link ecu...I got the program, serialLink ( either USB connection), Im connect the wire of the ecu at serialLink, then I connect the RS232 to my laptop, then I click connect ( after turn on the car), but I didnt make it !!! the laptop doesnt recognize any connection, all wires are in good shape, and everythings are working on perfect condition, but I cant make connection

exist any other thing??? the people of link ecu says "dont need a driver on rs232 connection"...Irun the program on win98, win 2000, and XP...
please If any of u can helps, I appreciate

When you go to connect make sure its looking for the correct coms port.

yes I chequed all port to...I think this case is relationed W engine start... thanks for ur answer

you do need aan driver for the rs232 connection.
I had the same problem, first the laptop kept installing a mousedriver until i installed the coreect driver for the rs232 connection

thats right!! the same problem, do u have the driver?? BTW, ur running the program on win 2000 or xp??

i'm running XP, but don't have the driver anymore.
It's ony installed at my laptop as:

"FTDI USB Serial converter drivers"

Did you buy this new or second hand?

I bought one off here and it worked with the hand controller but not with the PClink. Bob of BRdevelopments upgraded the chip and from then one it worked a treat.

yes I bought of second hand...but Im thinking i need to buy a comlink, this hardware got a driver on the internet page, i prove any kind of drivers, but no ones work...do u think in MRT has a solution of this problem?? or any other solution available??
