I've got one. There great, but they can be a bit dangerous. Correct me if im wrong anyone, but I think its only illegal if it were used dangerously, i.e to hurt a person crossing the road or similar. you can allways get away with telling the police it a bit of overrun burnt fuel. and the spark plug in your exhaust is actually a temperature sensor.
The phrase 'show use only' comes to mind lol

don't use them or get caught using them. if you get caught they now class them as an offensive weapon. you'll probably lose your car and face serious fines!

taken from another site i do know of one chap the took to court over his

They are illegal.... if you want your exhaust to flame, get a de-cat, and a fuel controller, and make sure you set it up to overfuel to death!

Why do you want/need one?
Caught by the Police etc you will get done. It paints an image of 'hooligan' and I trust you are not one, but you will get branded all the same and made an example of.
Do they justify loss of car/fine etc?

Bit of fun? Yes. This is a free country? Yes, but only within the law! Even a de-cat falls into this arena, and soon that will be pounced on by the Tree Huggers!

Good luck.

blah blah blah
the law is this it is NOT ilegal to have a flammer fitted it is ilegal to use it on a public road so you can have one to use on private land, shows,or track days if
track are ok with it . so unless you go to track days, shows or have some private road to flame away on not much point

I have one. My Bro in law fitted it without me knowing - not happy
They are great for tossers that drive very close up your **** - they soon back off
Other than this you cant really see the flame outs anyway...................

Plus you can only keep them on for a few mins max, on longer and the mechanism burns itself out I'm told

Fangoria- There ar two types of flamer, the one I am using is a spark plug in the exhuast that you can have on for ages. it simply lights any unburnt fuel. there is another type which is maybe the one your on about as you mention burning it out if left on. these bypass the fuel or ignition some how and can only be used while saitionary and for a few seconds at a time.

When Im on the move in my sti type r, and the flamer lights one on overrun it lights up the whole night sky. all mirrors on the car are full of flames lol. even in the day its clearly visable. I get a huge flame most of the time must be 5 foot long approx
