Default Heavy low-rev misfire when cold (intermittant)

As above really! It is fine above half throttle or over 3k but obviously this is not ideal for a cold engine!!

Seems to smooth out when the water temp gauge reaches operating temp. (About half way)

Seems to be worse when raining or when changing between grades of fuel. (ie when using SUL with booster as opposed to just SUL)

My mate reckons on coil packs, plugs or leads. Had the packs removed and checked and they seem to be fine. Was goin to but some magnecour leads this weekend, hopefully this will be all it is.

Its annoying because it doesn't always do it so its difficult to trace.

Any advice would appriciated BTW its a 94 WRX,

Cheers

Moisture/water somewhere or coil pack issues. Do not change the leads unless they are definately U/S. the O/E are better than most replacements.
Can you get someone with a diagnostic to run a check.

I've got the same problem - the wet/cold weather is bringing them all out

I tried an ECU reset and it got worse so a sensor of some sort is most likely, probably the dreaded MAF

Anyone got any better ideas?

Will do (sorry VWscooby for the hijack ). Unsure on plug gap - a local subaru specialist fitted them as part of a service.
