Cool V.4/5 TMIC into V.2 Q's

Might have sourced a V.4/5 TMIC. Not to sure which it is though! Has the V4 got a dump valve exit flat on the surface of the cooler and the V5 has an angled outlet?????

It's supplied with the plastic under pipe, not the metal pipe, as in this thread -

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=416383

Is it still worth me buying it or should I wait for 1 with a metal under pipe??

Thanks!!!

The STI I/C's come with the Alloy and Uprated Silicone hoses as standard, whereas the UK cars came with the Plastic Y hose.

The STI4 I/C has an 'L' shaped pipe outlet for the D/V, and the STI5 I/C has the flat diamond shaped flange for direct D/V fitment. Hope that clears up some Ques..

The one in the link you provided is a v5/v6 tmic.
The v3/v4 have a elbow (alloy hose) joined to the front rh side of the tmic.
The v5/v6 should be easier to mod when blanking off the original dv location (no welding required)

As for waiting for one thats turns up with the alloy y piece, then its a matter of cost/timescale & how cheap your getting the one without for?

My v4 tmic came with the y piece, I then bought the samco v1/v2 turbo hose kit & retain the standard dv & position.

I've found a TMIC which I think is a version 5 UK model, not the STI! Is it he same as the STI?

It has the fitment for the DV straight on to the IC. It comes with a plastic Y piece underneath. Should I be really getting 1 with the metal Y piece or is the plastic OK?????

I currently have the slanty small IC, and yes it does have a blue silicone pipe connecting it to the turbo.

What should I do??

Thanks!

So if I buy a UK MY99, it'll be the V5 TMIC. It comes with the plastic Y piece, but I can change that for a Samco TCS22 silicone pipe, which will retain the DV position it is in now?

Right, I'm getting there!!!!!

Does anybody know if Samco or SFS make a Y piece for the V5 intercooler? If so will it fit with a metal joining pipe to the TCS22 pipe?

Just means I could buy a V5 UK intercooler and swap the awful plastic pipe for a Samco or SFS unit!!!!

Please?????

I'd personally look out for the alloy Y piece. Its a tight mod and the pipes underneath do rest on/come close to the bulkhead. If you went all silicone underneath you may squash them and restrict flow.

As stated earlier if you already have the silicon pipework on your slanty IC then you can use this with the alloy Y piece to retain the OE DV position.
