Ouch. This is a growing problem.
I think your friend will be judged by the noise level the stock Impreza gave when it was homologated for this country.
If it is a Jap import, then it might all be less prescriptive.
I think the max noise level is 98Db, but there will be a drive-by level too.
Best ask the MoT man for some figures.
Truth is noise is a real problem for us all, and if it the type that somebody donesn't like then be ready for a smack.
