MY97 MAF Alternative: Is der such a thing?

Since older(MY97) MAFs are expensive, are there alterantives? Can one use the MY99/00 MAFs?

Any comments on this, saw HKS VPC (Vein Pressure Converter) but are already discontinued:
"The HKS VPC is a fuel management device that physically and electronically replaces OEM air metering devices for improved air flow and precise fuel delivery by converting it into a speed density system with it’s own temperature sensor and pressure sensor."

I seem to remember a post on bbs.22b.com that stated that one of the nissan maf's fitted. Only problem I can see is that the scaling would be wrong, ie a remap would be needed.
