Default Front mount intercooler with no re-map??

As above really, what can I expect with this upgrade on my sti 4. It is standard apart from a cat-back h&s 3' exhaust system.
Will it lean the mixture out, or will the standard ecu self adjust?

Cheers guys and gals

Chris.

should n't make any difference to the mixture as you will still run the same boost. But you will get more lag (may be you should have stuck with the top mount, with the mods you have done unless you are going for big horses)

It will be perfectly fine. A properly designed FMIC will add almost no additional lag. I have been running a TurboXS FMIC on my stock turbo for several months now. I love it and would never go back to the TMIC. I will be heading to scoobyclinic soon to get it remapped since I have installed a larger turbo and 'pinks' recently.

BTW, stay far far away from those ebay copy of a copy FMIC's. I have installed a few and wasnt impressed.

Cant agree more with you there, lag will only really be noticed when the flow in the intercooler core is not effecient

without a remap you may notice some changes in behaviour with throttle movement, due mainly to the increase in volume. The increase creates a delay in the respone between the manifold and the MAF sensor.

Quality of the core used, pipe construction, fit, no T-bolt clamps and poor instructions. Other than that, they were great!

What happens if you don't have a MAF ie Link ecu?

When i fitted mine, i ran it for about 3 weeks before the remap.

Only thing i noticed, was it actually struggled to make target boost.

Would be possible to run temporarily like that, but it wouldn't be wise to run on boost. If the VE is improved by the fitment of the intercooler, which is likely, then you are going to run lean, perhaps not enough to cause problems straight away, but it's a good idea to get it checked out.
