Hi I have just bought a Subaru 2.0 l turbo but have no idea what model it is as its totaly debadged. Its a 1997 P reg and has a quich shift box and sti pront bumper but I dont think it is an sti. the car has just been imported from Japan and I was told it has 260 bhp but I am weary of this. It feels very quick though. is there anyway of telling if its a wrx or sti or just a standard one. Also what bhp ratings have the diffrent models got.

Look at the plate with the model number on the right hand side of the engine bay up near the top as you stand in front of it. It will start GC8--------.

Go to www.sidc.co.uk and onto the Subaru Impreza FAQ. Under the Non-UK model section, some way down, it shows how to translate the model number to the model

well, assuming its a 4 door? its either a wrx or sti, if its an sti she should have redtop engine with sti embroidered on the front seats also, and there will be a little black sti symbol beside each wheel arch if its an sti
