Becoming an ECU mapper.
Hi there.
Not sure if I have the right section to post this, but I was wondering if anyone knew how to get started in Scooby ECU mapping? I'm a computer programmer by trade, and a Scooby owner. Currently I've been thinking 'I wonder if I could do that?'
Can anyone here give me some advice about this, such as contacts, URL's, what equipment and training I need, etc?
Many thanks.
Jas.

I think you can buy delta dash from the ekutek website which comes with either 3 or 5 licences. I've got no idea how complex it is to map a car, but they do have a forum if you get stuck. Very risky business if you ask me though, one bad map could lead to engine failure. It is something o'd love to be able to do, but would only take it on if i was taught how to do it

Knowing your way round a pc and understanding software is the easy it.
Have a good read is this book and a play with the demo software. Might put you off though.

Therotically, reading books, learning liquid, gas and heat dynamics etc. is ok but I think without experience&practise it doesnt matter whether you read tones of documentations. I'm not a mapper but I belive that it is a hard and long process. If you want to be a mapper you just need a software, wideband, egt and det cans but if you want to get reputation you need knowledge/experience. =)

Best place to start is mapping your own car, either with the OEM ecu or another one. Just make sure you start with a safe map (either OEM or from a reputable mapper), then play away.

so what you saying ?
if you have already had it mapped by a reputable mapper, then get the software and just make little adjustments to the mapp you have in the ecu from your mapper !
and then just change bits of the mapp according to what other changes have been done after the 'reputable mapp' ???
