WHINING NOISE COMING FROM POWER STEERING PUMP
As above really - but only after booting it for a few minutes.
MY98 UK turbo, standard appart from full de-cat stainless steel Scoobysport.
Any suggestions - loose belt, knackered pump etc? I have had the problem for ages but only thought to mention it now.
The whine only applies when the front wheels are not straight.

Mines also a MY98 UK turbo and its aways whined too. Usually only really bad after a thrashing.
I recently done a cambelt change after which it whined really really bad all the time.
Slackened the belt off a bit thinking I'd done it too tight but it was only very slightly better.
Topped up fluid to just above mark and it was a quite a bit better but still louder than it was before.
Filled it up to the brim and its now virtually silent.
I ordered a new bearing a few days ago thinking it was that. Picked it up today but haven't had a chance to fit it yet. Seeing as the level makes a difference to what noise it makes I can't see it curing anything.
I'll strip it to bits when i get the chance and see what I can see. Must be a seal of some kind somewhere.
