Angry I'm leaking...badly...

Evening all - Got home tonight and locked car. Walked away and a wooshing noise. Then smoke/steam from my bonnet. It smells like anti-freeze on my exhaust.

Hose split?

Safe to drive any distance? (Len in Newbury 25 mins drive)

Possibilty it could be the pump?

Puddle is about 10 inches to the left of the bonnet badge and about 18 inches back from the front bumper.

Any advice people?

Gutted.

Thanks

Michael

Lightbulb radiator ???

Check the rad , common for splitting the plastic sides ...usually o/s one that splits as far as i know.
Same happened to me xmas day ...lol
Seems to be a common fault on classic scooby's
Also found best not to fill header tank to the top...leave it about 2/3 way up as it gives room for expansion so not putting too much pressure on the plastic sides and hoses.

Can you see any wet runs on engine / pipes / radiator that might lead you to a leak.

Your 10 ins from left (I assum nearside)x 18 ins from front puts the puddle under the sump? I might also think under the thermostat and the engine end of the bottom rad hose.....

Are you in a breakdown organisation, get a full lift to the garage.

Thanks for all your help and advice guys...

Had a mechanic come and look at it this morning and he thinks it's the waterpump that's gone. (leaking down and back towards the exhaust)

He also thinks it wise to change the cambelt at the same time too.

68 for pump, 65 for belt (plus VAT....pesky VAT) and then labour. 286 all in...

Good value?....and are belts THAT much??

Thanks again....damn car. Always something isn't there?....
