Default U8 ECU, Other alternatives?

I have a 93 imprt WRX with a U8 ECU which needs replacing, as this only pushes out 240PS, is it possible to fit another subauru ECU from a later WRX/STI with better power figures or is it a case of just switching like for like?

Are there other sensors to change aswell as the ECU?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I think you can upgrade to lateer ECU's without too much of a problem. I think the Version 2 turbo ECU will work, this will give you 260PS, so I'm told.

However, you've got to be careful with the later ECU's as the sensors have different parameters and will throw a spanner in the works, for example I fitted the G7 ECU to my 1993 Import and it runs but the emissions light comes on (Lambda sensor), and also the ABS light comes on AND it overboosts and cuts the boost.

A z4 ecu is a good upgrade, i put one on my 93 type ra and the difference is amazing. The car runs much smoother and its rated at 260ps.

Z4 ecu is a straight swap and will cause no ill effects etc. 260ps. I have done this upgrade with no problems.
