Just love the afterburner (got it on a '54 WRX) - sounds phenomenal without being OTT and definately improves power delivery especially around 4000-5000rpm. Lovely burble on tickover, awesome howl on acceleration. I also have noticed a reduction in the judder between gears when accelerating hard through the 'box.

Moved my Afterburner over from my 03 STi to my 05 STi PPP.
Not as "burbley" on idle as some, but hit 4000 and wind the windows down.....
it's not called an Afterburner for nothing!
great bit of kit, you won't be dissapointed.

One of my mates has a STI03 and when he first got it, i was outside cleaning my car and i didnt even hear him pull, now he's got the afterburner on i can hear him from two roads away, it sounds so much better now.
Ive got one on a my99 and my local garage said it was one of the best fitting exhausts they had fitted as well

My Subaru dealer said I simply didn't have a warranty on the OEM backbox, but nothing else was affected.
I've actually read a rule somewhere such that if a car is modded, the onus now lies with the manufacturer to prove a problem was the result of the mod in the case of a warranty claim.

Talked to my Subaru Dealer in Aberdeen re this also
He says " that will not effect your warrenty as it is unlikely that a change of backbox will cause damage to the car in anyway"
Also "We have had several claims with cars with various problems, and never once has the claim not been repaired due to a non standard exhaust being fitted to the car"
They even said they would fit it for me?!?!?
So i think it would be quite safe to do
if required in the case of a claim engine fail or similar then its AA tow to home, fit standard and call them " oh my car wont go":-)

Just got off the phone to subaru UK and even though I have the prodrive back box they say it could invalidate the warranty due to the change in back pressure if I changed it for an aftermarket one. He mentioned that PPP'd STI's are overfuelled as standard and by fitting a different exhaust could cause fueling problems leading to pistons melting. I know this is an extreme example but this was from the warranty guys at subaru UK!
Might see if I can get a different answer from my dealer and see if he'll put it in writing cause personally I don't think it'll make **** all difference as the prodrive one will be free flowing anyway and I'm not touching any of the cats.
Editied to add that he also warned me that I WILL get pulled by the police for having a non subaru approved exhaust on the car - I mean when was the the last time you saw a police car on the road!!!!! See speed cameras do have some uses!
