Crankshaft Front Seal advice req'd please
Hi guys,
I think that the front crank seal has gone, getting oil drip from the bottom of the covers, iv'e not had a proper look. but initial thoughts is the seal. My97 uk, BTW.
Q, if i do the front seal, should i also do the rear seal, cam seals, water pump, oil pump, tensioner, idlers, belt also and any other blo**y thing that might be needing changed?? Engine has done 107k so must be about time for it all needing done.
I'd be cheaper getting a new motor, but wife wont let me get shot for a newer one.
Cheers

Just do the one that needs doing at the moment, won't be a fortune for a new seal, and if you are able to fit it yourself then it's even cheaper, you'll need to remove the cambelt though.... which to be honest is the hardest part of the job....

Had a look today with both end covers off, nothing to visible without taking the pulley off, belt and big cover off, but it doesn't look like any of the cam seals have gone.
Q, would a little to much oil in the motor cause this symptom??, (wife serviced car 2 weeks ago), checked it today, oil cold, 2-3mm above full cold hole.
Cheers
