Default Would speedo being disconnected mess about with ecu and check engine light ?

I accidentally disconected the speedo yesterday, i thought i'd put it back on tomorrow, anyway just had to help a mate out and drive 30 or so miles halfway through check engine light kept coming and going then stayed on, midway through the gear when spanking it a bit i'm getting a misfire?

thats perfectly normal as it will stay in 'limp' mode due to the lack of a "speed" signal......................

suppose you accidentally unscrewed the retaining screws in the dash as well to get accidental access to the speedo
