Default weight of 2001 wrx

Hi again,

What is the weight of a 4 door WRX and how much heavier is it than the classic impreza turbo? I know they have essentially the same engine and that the 2001 model lacks the turbo 'kick' in the mid range. Just wondering if the 2001 model will feel slow.

Cheers.

Martin.

The 1997 turbo had 208hp, this lept up to 215 in '99 all 1235kg. This gives 168 and 174hp/Tonne
The new shape WRX has 225hp and is 1395kg. Giving 161hp/Tonne.

Just shows that the current WRX needs the PPP to be quick, making it 190hp/Tonne.

The new sti is 1475Kg and 265hp, giving 179hp/Tonne. The PPP is also a must here giving a healthy 203hp/Tonne.

The new age cars also have a more linear power delivery, so you may not feel the kick in the back of the classics. But if you look at the speedo you will find you are really making progress

Yep those cups are quick, I had a 172 for a year. But they are not 4WD 4 door family saloons
Fun nevertheless.

Out of the box, the JDM New age STi's are acutally quicker than the classic versions they replaced (my01 etc), its not just power to weight but also aerodynamic drag which also plays its part

I recently fitted a 2001 interior into a classic, thought it was a good idea as the old seats were knackered, thats until I tried to pic up a 2001 seat, nearly broke my back , they must away a ton!
