Default Fuel cut (when) ?

My JDM WRX Wagon (95) does not have a fuel cut defender but it does have a Dawes boost controller. My question(s) is/are... what is the standard pressure that the fuel cut comes in ? and if the fuel cut comes in at say.... 0.8 bar, surely the boost controller wouldn't work at anything above the same value ??

Background:- want to do a track day but the fuel cut is doing my head in when giving it some right foot. Can't be good for the car when it makes it pogo down the road.... should I get a fuel cut defender ?

prob fuel cut stock is at .95

If u have a dawes installed, recomend u install a fuel cut to raise boost, say to 1.0 1.1 bar.

U can install an electric one (welding wires at ecu) or mechanical. Dawes also have a mecanichal fuel cut. Easy to install, no wires to mess, easy to remove and go stock again.

Don't get a fuel cut defencer without getting the required mods to up the fuelling, for example uprated fuel pump, injectors, or simply a remapped ECU, failure to increase the fuelling will cause you to run lean under excessive boost i.e over 1 bar.

My thread may help you to some degree mate as im playing with mine.
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=448855
Different ecu's had different cut rates mines a 3b which may well be the same as yours and is set at 13.79 psi fuel cut.

Never knew i could get a fuel cut defender?Where can i get these from?

Here is a new thought.

Currently the only thing protecting my engine from over boost is the fuel cut coming in at around 0.9 bar (very harsh power cut). Currently the wastegate is disconnected (i don't think the hose is connected up). If I don't plan to run higher boost than I already am, should I not just remove the Dawes all together, connect up the wastegate again and then I won't have the harsh fuel cut ??

i.e. I'd rather get a more progressive lack of power through the wastegate than the harsh (hit a brick wall) fuel cut on a track day.

If you're wategate is disconnected you've got no boost control at all, your tubo is giving it's all. God knows what it would get up to if you installed a fuel cut defencer, it would more than likely result in you being able to see the insides of your engine on a tarmac backdrop.

There's a little line that comes off the turbo outlet. This should be connected to the bottom of the dawes device then the end with the 90Deg elbow and the little hole in it should connect to the line that goes into the actuator. There should be no other lines connected up to this.

Once thats done lower the boost right down by loosening the spring, then build it up a bit at a time until you get a nice value before fuel cut.

Dawes will bring the boost in a bit earlyer than the ecu will (not much) and tail off the pressure at the top of the rev range, which is not a bad thing for engine life.
