Default Can you LPG a turbo

As title, can a turbo be LPG'd, someone told me that with the latest LPG kits this is possible.
Before any terse comments: good if your doing high miles commute then switch back to optimax for performance.

Dont know about Scoobs, but someone I know has a new astra turbo gassed. Seams to run fine, BUT the way I see it when you buy a turbod motor you know its gonna drink fuel.

You'd have a short range - LPG is (I think) less efficient than petrol. you'd need a big tank just to get to the next station!

did you know new caravans can be filled up at LPG stations now, instead of changing Calor Gas cylinders?
Tune in tomorrow for more dull facts...

Looked into LPG a few times but the thing that would worry me is they do tend to run slightly hotter on gas than on petrol and i would be constantly worrying about heat v's turbo.

I'd be interested if you could run it safely on it, be good for plooding back and for to work. Then keep the tank full of Optimax for the evenings and weekends!

But i'd be worry about the engine blowing, isn't LPG a low octane rating than normal petrol?? most people advise using optimax plus an octane booster fora modded engine.

don't forget the huge amount of extra weight you will be carrying and even when you switch back to Optimax you will be slower that before you had it fitted and use even more fuel than before.

Entirely possible. LPG is around 106 Octane. BUT the Exhaust Gas Temp does burn slightly hotter.

LPG burns differently and can slowly damage the valves, but there are various ways route this.

There is a guy in Bolton who is VERY knowledgable on this but I can't remember for the life of me his companies name....... He runs a UK Turbo 2000 tweaked...

I looked at this ages ago, and the only company I found doing anything similar was here
http://www.go-lpg.co.uk/Maserati.html
If you can do it to an Italian bi-turbo, you can do it to just about anything! The plumbing is something else though!

Lightbulb

Made an enquiry at my local installers recently, here's the reply (that's a LOT of Optimax):
---------------
Thank you for your enquiry

Your Subaru is suitable for conversion to dual fuel.
We use a fully developed 'Sequential Multi point' type Autogas system for this vehicle to ensure maximum efficiency.
A spare wheel type Autogas tank is used and installed in the spare wheel area, ensuring no loss of luggage space.
The total cost of this conversion is £1720 + Vat
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any further questions, or to book your conversion.

Best regards,
Stuart Eckersley
