Default limiter on my scooby

alright people, just bought a imported 93 reg wrx impreza.
i fount out its limited to a mere 100mph!

does anybody know how to remove the limter, i'd imagine that its limited by the ECU due to the mapping, if i put in a stage one chip will this correct the problem and up the power or do i have to remap the original chip first?

answers on a postcard to.......

any advice will be great

regards

youll probably find its actually limited to 112 which is the law in japan. Your speedo may be up the spout though if its only reading 100...!

you can get an override chip/switch thing for not much cash but i cant remember what its called!! should see you right.

Get yourself an HKS SLD which will take the limiter out, but leave it in kmh and solder 4 wires. It'll be cheaper than that, or you could get the speddo convertor/delimiter off Ebay for about £60?!

You will need a little box that changes the speed of the speedo cable between the gearbox ad the speedo in the dash. Graham Goode do a converter and recalibration of the speedo for £130.

Try some of the other suppliers that advertise on here to get some other prices before getting one.

I have a 180kph (112mph) speedo in my 95 WRX and when the converter was put in the speedo changed to mph and the limiter disappeared. I think that the limiter is at the 180 mark on the speedo so now I need to hit 180mph before the limit cuts in!
