Default What mod's to type R?

Hi I am planning on getting a new apexi Power FC ecu for my MY99 STI Type R, mapped by Andy F, Iwas just wondering about putting a FMIC on aswell as uprated fuel pump and replacement panel filter. The mods I have at the moment are just a De-cat downpipe and Blitz Nur spec R exhaust.

Could anyone tell me what other mods would be necessary or benificial before remap and what BHP figures to expect please??

Regards

Chris

Get yourself a fuel pump and filter fella before Andy does his magic . No real need for front mount as you won't exceed around 320 bhp on your standard turbo. New headers or porting your standrd ones would be beneficial though.

Std fuel reg 383bhp, but it is a good idea to fit a good quility reg ( like SX) as you don't want the std reg to fail causing the engine to run lean.

The vf28 will go up to 350bhp with the right mods, 330bhp should be poss with pump, reg, STI 8 I/C, full de-cat and re-map. API David confirmed this This is my spec just waiting for the map

What are you aiming for?
Max power/torque or just a nice 350 bhp?

IMHO go to AndyF and buy it all from him.
I have a 20g from him on my Sti v3 as I was looking to max the engine on a TMIC, but you may like an 18g better.
All the advice above is good.
Christian R's advive ultimatly is better but less fun.

AndyF is indeed The Magician.

I did a thread in projects on this subject along with several others, Too big to read through from start to finish but a good spec I would suggest is:

Big TMIC
Fuel pump upgrade
SX regulator
550 injectors

Ported headers from Harvey
Good downpipe and system @ 3''
18g turbo
Apexi FC with commander
AndyF mapping

Map for Optimax only if a daily driver car.

Graham.

Not to sound too thick but what does the 20g and 18g mean for the turbos?

Smile GOOD QUESTION TISS

Hi mate
almost the same question I had to ask as I have a JDM 1998 WRX Tpe-R V-limited standard on 100oct is 300bhp.

Just had a rebuild STI9 crank & bearings, eagle rods, JE pistons its got the VF22 Turbo and RA gearbox, light weight shell.

Everything Ive been reading points to Andy being the man, should you get one fitted let us know.

By the way look in group buys.

VF22 Turbo
Poor choice of turbo for the car IMO. Alot better turbos that that relic

20G is the size of compressor wheel in the TD06 housing. 18G is slightly smaller obviously but spools lower and from feedback provides a much better power band for an everyday car on a 2.0 engine whereas the 20G on a 2.5 Litre is virtually lag free.

A remap on your existing engine with the basics as described above will transform the car totally as it is. Using the Power FC ECU you can add stuff at a later date and the remap will be cheaper.
