Power Steering
Got a pretty whiny pump, seems to be worse when warmed up. Have checked the level and its at the bottom of the cold mark on the bit that dips into it attached to the cap.
How much of a drop in the fluid level would be sufficient for it to start making noises ? or does it just sound like my pumps on the way out. cars a uk99 turbo by the way on 70k.

Before you replace the pump, try filling the level to the 'hot' mark when it's cold. As far as I understand it, the later classics boil the fluid (or at least it gets very aerated) when it works hard. I thought my gearbox bearings had gone until I tried the higher level (a SN tip by the way )

I thought it sounded a bit gearboxy too but iv just had that rebuilt, and i can feel the steerings a bit noisy on the spot.
