If you are running the O/E ECU, the lambda sensor is required for closed loop running.
On the M/Y 94, I think the lambda sensor is located in the headers at the collector. Look underneath at the front on the drivers side and it should be visible.

You still need a lambda sensor, assuming you intend changing the downpipe?
the new one will have a hole for lambda sensor as from 95 onwards the lambda sensor is in the downpipe.

I would expect it to be in the headers like Harvey suggests.. look in line with where airbox is or used.

If your having a custom pipe made - then surely it can't be that hard for whoever made to drill a hole in the pipe and weld on a suitable size/thread nut to screw the sensor in?

Could do it yourself if you have a drill and a MIG welder

So if the sensor does happen to be on the down pipe and not the headers - then it's not the end of the world.
