can anyone help i have boost problems
I have an MY00 Uk Impreza previousley it was running a full afterburner decat system with a PPP ECU and Intercooler piping I recently had problems with the turbocharger as its oil seals were just on there way out and there was a very distinct whistling noise coming from the engine. i decided to upgrade the unit from the stock Mitsubishi TD04 to a IHI VF30 as fitted to bug eye STI i was told it would spool up faster. I have since fitted the new unit and i am much dissapointed it seems to spool up later and when it does i am not impressed. The TD04 used to spool up around 2500 - 3000 rpm this unit does not seem to be doing anything up to about 5000rpm. The turbocharger is brand new all hoses and pipes are in the correct locations and are secure. can anyone suggest anything. Do i require a Remap for this turbocharger to operate as it should. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There was a thread a few months back that outlined a problem with TD to VF changes, in that the TD series have an unresticted oil supply to the core, but VF's had a restriction as the roller bearings only needed to be oily rather than oiled. Did you use the correct oil supply pipe lines for the VF or use the TD series ones that came with the car?.
